Location : Phoenix Market City, Bangalore
Cuisine: Californian style pizzas, pastas, subs
Ambiance and Interiors: Tastefully done interiors. Dark brown chairs and tables, cushioned booth style seating and a few outdoor tables. A bar area but no bar seating. Spacious and not too dimly lit. The music could have been better, it was repetitive and they even played a couple of hindi tracks which was a put off in a place like this. Good to see that it was not empty for lunch on a weekday.
Beverage: Red Herring, a blend of strawberry puree, banana, pineapple and grenadine. A bit too strong and could have been milder.
1.BLT Pizza which consisted of smoked bacon, and fresh Roma tomatoes and plenty of cold shredded lettuce covered in mayonnaise. A thin pizza that doesn’t prove too heavy on the stomach. They went overboard with the lettuce but overall a fine tasting pizza and a must for BLT lovers.
2. Green Fettucine Pomodoro (pasta) , a mix of spinach fettucine, white mushrooms with Pomodoro sauce, mint and basil. Very fine and creamy with a brownish tinge due to the Pomodoro sauce. Lacked the punch though and could have been better if the spice level was raised up a touch.
Dessert: Chocolate Banana Royale Cake – A fine choice to end the meal. A huge slice of rich chocolate cake with flavourful banana cream, chocolate mousse and a chocolate fudge drizzle on top. Easily shareable by two.
Service: Prompt, friendly and efficient service. Didn’t take too long for the food and drink to appear at the table. The pasta was served before the pizza which definitely does not get a thumbs up. Took some time to get our waiter’s attention for the check but it was brought quickly then.
Overall Verdict and score: Worth a visit for the innovative pizzas such as the original BBQ, the BLT, the works and the eggplant parmesan. The appetizers are not what you’d often see on the menus of many pizza places and presents the diners with an interesting choice and mix while omitting the ever favourite french fries and potato wedges. The main course has a wide variety of non-veg and veg pizzas, pastas, focaccia subs as well as their specialties. They have just a few beverages but also a selection of wine if you’re in the mood. The dessert menu may not have many pages but easily tempts. A fine place with a good atmosphere and service if your taste buds crave some innovative style pizzas. An average meal for two (without alcohol, and including VAT and service charge) can fall in the range of Rs. 1500-2000.
